Dame Heather Rabbatts has a granddaughter who turns three in December.
“There is a young boy at her nursery,” she explains, “who’s been a bit tricky and they said the only girl he’s frightened of is my granddaughter. I am hugely proud she stood up to a little bully.”
There is clearly a family theme at work. Rabbatts, who was appointed DBE in 2016, has been defying expectations and standing up to bullies for most of her 64 years. The Football Leadership Diversity Code launched this week has its roots in work done by Rabbatts alongside Paul Elliott when they worked together at the FA.
