Dame Heather Rabbatts has a granddaughter who turns three in December.
“There is a young boy at her nursery,” she explains, “who’s been a bit tricky and they said the only girl he’s frightened of is my granddaughter. I am hugely proud she stood up to a little bully.”
There is clearly a family theme at work. Rabbatts, who was appointed DBE in 2016, has been defying expectations and standing up to bullies for most of her 64 years.
