Hello parents, teachers and students! Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your holiday break. Now the new semester is upon us, and I’m sure you’re all refreshed, energized and ready to go.
The Urban Education Institute at the University of Texas at San Antonio recently gathered data to learn how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected teaching and learning. Researchers surveyed students, parents and teachers from different grade levels and found schools not only play a critical role in the intellectual development of our children, but also in their social development. You can read more about the study and its findings here.
In this week’s KSAT Kids’ kid spotlight, we highlight a four-year-old who holds two records in the India Book of Records. Alhana Asath was named the record holder for a child, younger than 12-months of age, that can speak more than a thousand words. She also set the record for identifying the most number of logos. That’s amazing!
Parents, are you still looking for a fun, educational activity for your kids? KSAT 12 meteorologist Kaiti Blake had her first science lab of the year yesterday, this time a demonstration that shows how an egg can magically fit inside a bottle, all while learning about air pressure.
And for students still seeking additional schooling help, the San Antonio Public Library continues to offer resources to help with their lessons. We also have a list of places offering free Wi-Fi for students and their families.
