GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Empower Retirement, the nation’s second-largest retirement services provider,1 today announced its sponsorship of PGA Tour champion Brendon Todd.

The 35-year-old from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, turned pro in 2007 and has had three PGA Tour victories, including two back-to-back wins in 2019 at the Bermuda Championship and the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

“Brendon has proven that strong work ethic and focus pay off,” said Edmund F. Murphy III, Empower Retirement President and CEO. “We are excited to partner with a true grit player like Brendon, and we are looking forward to watching his career and cheering him on.”

The partnership with Todd includes various engagement and social opportunities with Empower clients and partners. The Empower logo will appear on Todd’s shirt throughout the PGA Tour season.

“Brendon Todd has such a great story of perseverance from his high school days of playing against PGA Tour pro Webb Simpson in Raleigh, North Carolina, to winning back-to-back PGA Tours in 2019,” said Stephen Jenks, Chief Marketing Officer for Empower Retirement. “He will be a fantastic brand ambassador who has put in hard work and stayed focused on his goals — those are characteristics we believe in at Empower.”

Empower has had a multi-year marketing partnership with PGA Tour player Webb Simpson since 2018. The new sponsorship with Todd builds on Empower’s sports marketing investments. This month Empower announced a partnership with LPGA Tour Champion Cheyenne Knight. Empower also has a sponsorship deal with PGA Tour golfer Brendan Steele.

Empower has made investments with NFL teams and a Major League Soccer team in markets where Empower has a large concentration of associates and customer base. In 2019 Empower entered into a 21-year agreement with the Denver Broncos for the naming rights to Empower Field at Mile High.

Empower’s expanded sports marketing program complements the company’s national TV advertising campaign that was launched in 2020 to continue to build brand awareness across audience segments.
