Tottenham need variety in attack to reach Liverpool’s level after Steven Bergwijn misfires at Anfield
If Steven Bergwijn’s second-half strike had been an inch inside the post, Spurs might have recorded a landmark victory but, instead, they were made to pay for their profligacy, as Roberto Firmino underlined the difference between champions and contenders by heading home a last-minute winner. A bullish Jose Mourinho afterwards claimed “the best team lost” but the Spurs manager will know that there are still tweaks needed to propel his side to Liverpool’s level.
