A brand new escape room and virtual reality experience is coming to intu Watford.
On Thursday (November 26), intu Watford shopping centre announced that immersive entertainment company, Escape Hunt, will be opening the brand new site.
Escape Hunt was founded in 2013 and has sites all across the world from Buenos Aires to Melbourne and provides immersive and exciting escape room adventures designed for teams of between two and six for ages eight and up.
Players will be briefed before their mission and will step into new worlds to solve puzzles and clues against the clock.
Escape Hunt will be taking on a 4,042 square foot site on a 10-year lease and will sit in intu’s recent 380,000 square foot £180 million extension.
Escape Hunt CEO, Richard Harpham, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing the magic of our immersive entertainment to Watford.
“Some of our most popular escape rooms will be opening at intu Watford, and we’re sure you’re going to love them.”
Charlie Griffiths, Senior Asset Manager at intu Watford, added: “The addition of Escape Hunt to intu Watford’s great selection of attractions will help cement our position as the go-to destination for people looking for a great day out.
“Confidence continues to return across the leisure sector, as we adapt and learn how to manage the risks around COVID-19 effectively.
“We’ve seen good levels of interest in our space from a number of other providers over recent weeks – and we expect further new signings to follow this one.
“Research clearly shows that shopping centres offering a compelling combination of retail, food and beverage and entertainment options outperform the wider market.
“As people and brands become more selective with their choice of destination, we are determined to remain at the forefront of evolving consumer trends.”
Intu Watford has announced today (Friday, November 27) that it will reopen safely for non-essential retail next Wedneday (December 2) following England’s national lockdown.
The regional shopping destination will now remain open until 7pm Monday-Saturday between December 2 – 20, and until 8pm from December 21-23. The centre will also open on Christmas Eve from 9am-5pm, for shoppers wanting to get some last-minute gifts.
