The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of digital platforms, as people have been forced to spend more time at home and minimize contact with others. As a result, people are using digital apps and platforms more actively, and a lot of their data are being pulled by the apps and platforms.

This trend coincides with consumer-facing businesses and the government campaigning for contactless services, with the latter showing a keen interest in pursuing big data transformation in governance.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo issued Presidential Regulation No. 39/2019 in June, addressing a one data policy, with the intention to gather national data under an accessible, accurate, integrated and sophisticated system.

Furthermore, the President has also envisioned some civil service positions being replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).

  • Possible roadmaps toward the use of datasets to serve the public and consumers
  • The potential for public-private partnerships in developing Indonesia’s big data ecosystem
