The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin a field survey along US Highway 281 in Russell County starting October 12.
Crews will be surveying approximately 11 miles of US 281 starting at Land Road and ending at the west Kansas Highway 18 junction to gather information for the detailed design of a proposed pavement and shoulder widening project.
Activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor. Work is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
Crews will contact property owners or tenants for permission to enter private property, if access is needed. Michael Selley, field survey project manager, will oversee the survey for KDOT.
