President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden are running dead even in Pennsylvania.

Among the 82% of voters who say they are certain now how they will vote in the presidential election, Trump holds a slight 51% to 49% advantage.

The president carries 86% of the Republican vote and leads among voters not affiliated with either major party by 11 points. Biden takes 81% of the Democrat vote.

Trump leads among men and middle-aged voters. Biden carries women, those under 40 and seniors.

Worrisome for the former vice president is his 67% black support, low for a Democrat, with the incumbent earning 27% of the black vote in Pennsylvania. Trump leads among whites and other minority voters.

The Pennsylvania survey of 1,000 Likely U.S. Voters was conducted August 25-27, 2020 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Biden has regained his lead following the two national political conventions in the latest Rasmussen Reports’ weekly White House Watch survey.

Fifty percent (50%) of voters in Pennsylvania approve of the job Trump is doing, with 39% who Strongly Approve. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove of his job performance, including 43% who Strongly Disapprove. This is comparable to Trump’s job approval nationwide in Rasmussen Reports’ daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

Forty-nine percent (49%) have a favorable view of the president, while 50% percent (50%) share an unfavorable opinion of him. This includes Very Favorables of 36% and Very Unfavorables of 44%.

Biden is seen favorably by 46% and unfavorably by 52%, with 29% who have a Very Favorable opinion of him and 38% who hold a Very Unfavorable one.

Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters in Pennsylvania approve of the job performance of Governor Tom Wolf, a Democrat, including 25% who Strongly Approve. Forty-four percent (44%) disapprove, with 31% who Strongly Disapprove.

Nationally, voters express nearly the same level of trust in both Trump and Biden when it comes to the major issues facing the nation. The exception is the environment where Biden has a clear lead.

Most voters say the upcoming presidential election is about Trump and rate Biden’s agenda of secondary importance. Enthusiasm about the election continues to grow following the two major parties’ conventions, especially among Republicans.
