A Suitable Boy viewers have praised a “bombshell revelation” made in the show’s penultimate episode.
The BBC series, based on the best-selling novel by Vikram Seth and adapted by War and Peace scribe Andrew Davies, aired its fifth episode on Sunday night (August 23) — and it was the most dramatic outing yet.
The episode saw a huge plot twist when it was revealed Tasneem (Joyeeta Dutta) is Saeeda’s secret daughter and Firoz’s (Shubham Saraf) half-sister.
A second twist was in store when a confused Maan misread the tense atmosphere and suspected Firoz of having an affair with Saeeda, before stabbing him in a jealous rage.

With Maan being encouraged to flee the scene of his friend’s stabbing, viewers were left reeling from the dramatic events and revelations.
“OMG, what a bombshell,” said one viewer.
“Shock twist in A Suitable Boy tonight!” wrote another.

Breaking from tradition, the series will air its finale on Monday night (August 24) and it seems a few more twists are in store.
Indeed, as the preview for the finale indicated, the series could be looking to make another big departure from the book…
