BENGALURU: A majority of recruiters feel that the duration of conversations for job interviews have gone up during these lockdown times due to candidates working from home, and more privacy and comfort in such surroundings, according to a survey of 100 recruiters from the technology field by staffing firm Xpheno.
Candidates seem to be in less of a hurry in the WFH mode, and are experiencing longer and sometimes deeper conversations, the survey found. “This also has to do with the recruiter’s own mind space and pace on WFH mode, as in a typical workplace setup the competitive presence around tends to speed up conversations,” said Xpheno CEO Kamal Karanth. The WFH mode has also enabled an increase in privacy and comfort from a candidate’s perspective. 40% of recruiters said the number of candidate conversations had gone up, showing overall increase in availability of time and mind space among candidates to get on calls with recruiters.
The survey said despite the lockdown, recruitment activity has not come to a total halt with an average of over 1.9 lakh active job openings across the country in the last two months, with top IT services and product companies contributing over 15% to those open positions. While overall hiring has come down by 40%, “the top IT services companies in India are keeping their hiring pipelines warm and active,” the survey found.
