INDORE: Two weeks ago, India Council of Medical Research has asked every district across the country to conduct population-based sero-survey in health facilities to know prevalence of Covid-19 but the local administration has failed to begin it.
According to ICMR instructions, the authorities in each district across the country have to continue with a facility-based sampling of around 200 people including high-risk and low-risk groups in a week.
The survey has to be carried out in ten facilities including six public and four private ones for collection of 100 samples of healthcare workers (high-risk group), and 50 samples each of OPD attendees (Non-ILI patients) and pregnant women in a week.
The district didn’t have dedicated government clinics in sufficient numbers to do screening of Covid-19 suspects so the survey couldn’t be done. This might be a reason for the delay because in the list of yellow clinics there was only MY Hospital- a public health institution.
However, two days back, the authorities have started 19 fever clinics in government health facilities across the city.
CMHO Dr Praveen Jadia said, “We will begin the survey in a couple of days. A meeting is held for selection of hospitals for this population-based survey.”
