RAWALPINDI: The Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department has started a survey of property in the districts of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal for property tax collection.
E&T Rawalpindi Director Mohammad Suhail Arshad said the survey was launched to bring those properties in the tax net which were not in the record of the taxation department.
He said all the field staff had been directed to assess the tax according to the value of the property and its rent.
He said forms would be distributed among the owners who had made changes to their property like construction of additional floors of commercial and domestic buildings.
The field staff would conduct a door-to-door survey and check the modifications in all the buildings.
Those properties would also be declared taxable which had previously been declared domestic but were now being used for commercial purposes.
The official said after the survey, a public hearing would be conducted so the owners would present their objections on the property tax.
