If you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s or 50s, your wardrobe most likely consists of streetwear-inspired clothing. This is the conclusion of the most recent Pinterest survey, which focused on fashion and beauty searches by different generations of users. Streetwear is without contest “the” style that has succeeded in winning over people from absolutely every generation.
Not only does the data show that some clothing styles are ageless, but it also reveals a growing interest in streetwear in recent seasons. Searches by users in their 20s increased by 245 percent between December 2018 and December 2019. And this enthusiasm was also shared by those in their 30s (+298 percent), 40s (+308%), and 50s (+265 percent).
The survey shows that only those in their 60s remain resistant to the streetwear fashion trend, and this could quickly change as their searches for fashion sneakers have increased by 316 percent over the past year.
Differences in makeup styles
Internet users of every generation demonstrated a keen interest in makeup, however, there are variations with regard to different makeup styles. “Artistic makeup” is of particular interest to users in their 20s (+106 percent) and 30s (+142 percent), while “natural makeup” is favored by those in their 60s (+77 percent).
A similar difference is evident in searches for makeup advice. Users in their 30s and 40s are particularly interested in “makeup videos” (+131 percent and +150 percent respectively), while those in their 50s and 60s prefer “eye makeup tutorials” (+74 percent and +140 percent respectively).
There is considerable age-related variation in searches on hair styles, however, there is an overall trend for authenticity and self-acceptance. Internet users in their 30s are very eager for ideas on “natural hair styles” (+670 percent), and “short gray hair” is of particular interest to users in their 40s (+517 percent), 50s (+571 percent), and 60s (+610 percent).
