City among multiple U.S. markets slated for Tempo hotel

Hilton is targeting Nashville — among other U.S. cities — for its just-unveiled Tempo brand.

The McLean, Virginia-based company announced last week in a release that in addition to Nashville, other markets for which the brand is eyed include New York, Maui, Boston, Los Angeles, Lexington, Nashville, San Diego, Charlotte, Washington D.C., Houston and Atlanta. There are “more than 30 individual commitments to date with properties confirmed,” according to the release.

Hilton officials could not be reached for comment, and the Post was unable to determine at publication time the location of the future Tempo.

“Through our research, we found that while our current upscale offerings have been incredibly successful at earning loyalty among specific guest segments, there was a rising demographic of ambitious and highly discerning travelers that weren’t engaging with the category,” Jon Witter, Hilton chief customer officer, said in the release. “With Tempo by Hilton, we are able to reach these influential consumers through a new, elevated yet approachable class of hotels designed to surpass expectations of both customers and owners in truly meaningful ways.”

Davidson County is home to multiple Hilton brands: Tru, DoubleTree, Hilton Garden Inn, Embassy Suites, Hampton and Home2Suites. In addition, The Gulch is slated for a Hilton Canopy (read here), with a Tapestry (to be called The Printing House) eyed for Rutledge Hill downtown.

A Hilton Curio had been planned for a SoBro site at Eighth Avenue South and Demonbreun Street. That brand will now be an independent boutique 1 Hotel. Billionaire Barry Sternlicht, of global investment fund Starwood Capital Group, created the 1 Hotel brand (read here).

Hilton Hotels & Resorts operates 570 properties with a collective 210,000-plus rooms in 85 countries and territories across six continents.
