New Hampshire voters are typically late deciders and, as WMUR’s New Hampshire Primary Source reported as part of an analysis Friday, University of New Hampshire Survey Center Director Andrew Smith predicted that, like in past cycles, about half the voters still won’t be finally decided as late as the Sunday before the Feb. 11 primary.

According to a CNN New Hampshire Primary Poll, conducted by the UNH Survey Center Jan. 15-23, Sanders leads the field with 25 percent, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden at 16 percent, former Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 15 percent, Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 12 percent, Sen. Amy Klobuchar at 6 percent and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and entrepreneur Andrew Yang at 5 percent each.

While 10 percent are truly undecided, 49 percent say they are still trying to make a final decision, while 20 percent are leaning toward someone and 31 percent say they have definitely decided.

The margin of error for the poll is 4.9 percentage points among 516 likely Democratic voters.

An NBC/Marist poll shows Sanders with 22 percent, Buttigieg with 17 percent, Biden with 15 percent, Warren at 13 percent, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar breaking into double digits at 10 percent. Seven percent say they are undecided.

The NBC/Marist survey was conducted Jan. 20-23 among 697 likely Democratic voters and has a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.

That poll also found that 49 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire said that the most important factor to them is finding a nominee who has the best chance of defeating Trump.

In the CNN/UNH poll, while Biden trails Sanders in primary voters’ preferences, he has a huge lead when voters are asked who has the best chance of winning the general election, at 41 percent. Sanders is second at 20 percent, while 8 percent say Buttigieg and 6 percent say Warren.

Yet, 39 percent say Sanders is most likely to win the primary, with Biden at 22 percent and 12 percent for Warren.

On the Republican side, both polls found that President Donald Trump is the choice of about 90 percent of likely Republican primary voters.
