Press release from Westfield Public Schools:
December 1, 2020
The Westfield Public School District, in partnership with families and community, educates all students to reach their highest potential as productive, well-balanced, and responsible citizens who respect individual differences and diversity in an ever-changing world.
This mission statement guides every facet of District decision making. While the District prides itself on its longstanding Tradition of Excellence, it continues to work to combat acts of racism, violence, and hate. In an effort to hear from and engage the community, the District, in partnership with the Westfield Education Fund, will be sponsoring a yearlong community learning series on the topic of racial literacy.
The “Responding to Hate: Community Survey” will be used to gauge important community feedback and to plan future community learning experiences. Survey participants will answer a brief series of questions about race. Providing a name on the survey is optional; however, a name and e-mail address will be needed if the participant answers “yes” to wanting to be involved in future events and learning experiences.
The survey is provided in the link above and under “Recent News” at www.westfieldnjk12.org.
