The seven-day average in the United States is the highest since August 22, which is a national trend, with health experts warning that cold temperatures could increase the spread of the virus.

There was an increase in the daily positive rate of COVID-19 testing in 25 states, an increase in COVID-19 hospitals in 35 states, and an increase in the number of daily COVID-19 deaths in Washington, DC, and 18 states.

Four states – Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota and Wisconsin – have reached a record number of current COVID-19 hospitals per day. Nine states – all in the Midwest and West Indies – have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases in the past seven days.

Since September 13, the seven-day national average for new cases has increased by almost 25%.

All trends were analyzed from data collected and published by the Govt Monitoring Program over the past two weeks using the linear regression trend line of the seven-day moving average.

ABC News’ Benjamin Bell, Brian Hartmann, Surin Kim and Ariel Mitropoles contributed to the report.
