If you’re struggling to access your Netflix, Hulu, email or even your cellphone, you’re not alone. I mean how many times have you clicked on FORGOT PASSWORD and then have to make something brand new that you know you are going to forget as soon as you’re done.
A new survey shows the average person needs to remember 70-80 passwords.
Research from the security company NordPass reveals that all these passwords are enough to make up a four-verse poem, or the lyrics to the average pop song.
Even in 2020 it’s no surprise, people often choose stupidly common passwords. NordPass has published the 200 most common passwords, and the most popular are head slappers.
“Password” was used by 830,846 people, according to their research. Other commonly used ones include easy number combinations like 12345, and 111111; popular female names like Nicole and Jessica, or simply strings of letters in various directions across a QWERTY keyboard, like “asdfghjkl” and “qazwsx.”
In the words of Mel Brooks from the movie Spaceballs “One, two, three, four, five? That’s amazing. I’ve got the same combination on my luggage.”
