VANCOUVER, Canada – Africa Energy has issued a progress report on exploration activities on block 11B/12B in the Outeniqua basin offshore South Africa.

The deepwater Total-operated Brulpadda well on the concession last year proved a large gas-condensate field.

Early last month, Shearwater GeoServices’ vessel SW Cook started acquiring a new 2D seismic survey designed to define leads and prospects of a large portion of the block east of the Paddavissie Fairway.

To date Shearwater has completed around 3,300 km (2,050 mi) and the scope of the initial program has increased to take in prospective areas of interest identified with onboard fast-track processing and recently reprocessed legacy 2D seismic data.

On Dec. 29, 2019, the PGS Apollo started the second-phase 3D seismic program of 2,200 sq km (849 sq mi) which covers the remainder of the Paddavissie Fairway, including a large extension to the north, in order to better evaluate prospects identified on prior 2D and 3D surveys.

Africa Energy holds 49% of the shares in Main Street 1549 Proprietary Ltd., which has a 10% interest in the block. Qatar Petroleum International Upstream and CNR International (South Africa) are the other partners.
