NCIS: New Orleans is calling it a day after seven years and seven seasons, as the franchise moves from Louisiana to Hawaii for a brand new spin-off.

Following the news that NCIS: Hawaii is in the works, US network CBS has confirmed the ending of NCIS: New Orleans, which was the second spin-off in the series.

First airing in 2014, New Orleans starred Scott Bakula, Vanessa Ferlito, Necar Zadegan, Charles Michael Davis, Rob Kerkovich, Daryl ‘Chill’ Mitchell, Chelsea Field, and CCH Pounder.

In a statement, CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl promised a “big send-off” for the New Orleans team. “From the start, NCIS: New Orleans was able to distinguish itself with its New Orleans authenticity,” he said (via Deadline).

“From the colours and music to the vibrancy and stories you can only find in the Big Easy. Thanks to the amazing talents of the producers, writers, cast and crew, NOLA has played a key role on our schedule.

“We’re pleased to give it a big send-off and that viewers will have the opportunity to say goodbye to their favourite characters as the final season wraps.”

Lead Scott Bakula, who plays Special Agent in Charge Dwayne Cassius Pride, admitted that he was “sad” to be moving out of New Orleans.

“Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way,” he said in a statement. “I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”

While NCIS: New Orleans is coming to an end, main show NCIS is still going strong, with its 18th season currently on air.

NCIS airs on CBS in the US, and on FOX UK in the UK.
