BBC named number one international news brand by Comscore & Ipsos

BBC named number one international news brand by Comscore & Ipsos

Research by Comscore and Ipsos has claimed that the BBC is the top international news brand across India, Hong Kong and Australia.

Asia-Pacific senior vice-president at the BBC Alistair McEwan said the success was down to “impartial, accurate and fair news reporting”.

The announcement:

Research conducted by Comscore and Ipsos, today revealed exciting results for BBC News across the region.

IPSOS named BBC as the number one international news brand online in Australia, Hong Kong and India and BBC World News as the fastest growing international news channel in APAC among affluent audiences, outpacing all other news channel.

Meanwhile, digital media currency Comscore, has recognised BBC (News) Sites as the number one English Language news website in Hong Kong while Ipsos named BBC the number one online international news brand amongst the affluent in Hong Kong.

IPSOS research also revealed that in Australia, the BBC is the number one online international news brand amongst the affluent in Australia and that BBC World News TV Channel ranked as the number one international news channel amongst the affluent in Australia, moving up from second place in 2018.

Alistair McEwan, SVP APAC BBC Global News said: “These results from both Comscore and IPSOS demonstrate the need for impartial, accurate and fair news reporting from the many audiences we serve across the Asia-Pacific Region. 

“In times of an extremely fast paced, volatile and varied news agenda, we can see that BBC News is the go-to source for breaking news and developing stories and these results underline that audiences continue to turn to us on a daily basis for news they know they can trust.”

Across the region, very frequent travellers who have travelled to South East Asia tune in to BBC World News channel, making it the most watched international news channel from hotels in 2019.
