Apple has a unique program for students and teachers that offers educational discounts on a wide range of Apple products. The Apple Education (Apple EDU) is open to all current and newly accepted college students, their parents, as faculty, staff, and homeschool teachers of all grade levels. This guide offers details on the benefits that students and teachers can get from this special program from the Cupertino-based tech giant.

Apple has a dedicated site, specially made for students and teachers who want to buy Apple products at a discounted price. The Apple EDU store offers discounts on all iPad and Mac models. With an EDU discount, the entry-level MacBook Air can be purchased for only $999 instead of the $1099 retail price while the iPad can be purchased for only $309 instead of paying $329.

Discounts on Apple EDU vary based on the product’s price point, but it is right around the 10 percent mark. Apple does not provide Apple EDU discounts on Apple Watch, iPhone, HomePod, AirPods, Apple TV, and other Apple accessories. To be able to avail of this special pricing program, one must first meet the eligibility requirements.

Based on the Apple EDU sales policies in the US, students attending university or a higher education institution are eligible to avail of the special pricing discount. Faculty and staff of higher education institutions and universities are also qualified to avail. Employees of private or public K-12 institutions in the US, as well as appointed members and school board members,  are also eligible to avail of Apple EDU.

Homeschool teachers and parents with students attending a private or public higher education institution can also avail of the Apple EDU pricing. The program, however, comes with purchase limits. Eligible buyers can only purchase one desktop Mac, one Apple Mac Mini, three iPads, and two software titles for every academic school year.

Apple EDU is also available in other regions outside the US, with the method of verification varying in every country. For instance, in the UK, enrolment must be verified through UNiDAYS service via Apple using a Student ID or university acceptance letter.
